Atilano’s anchor blend, Latin Poetry, honors the culture and history of various Latin American countries by periodically refreshing the roast with beans sourced from different countries of inspiration. This inaugural blend is dedicated to our California neighbor, the culturally diverse and enchanting country of Mexico. The Latin Poetry packaging includes a quote from Benito Juárez, Mexico’s first indigenous President, which translates as, “Respect for the rights of others means peace.” A full-blooded Zapotec born in 1806 to a poor rural Oaxacan family, Juárez became a well-educated lawyer and progressive reformer dedicated to democracy and equal rights for Mexico’s indigenous people. This Latin Poetry blend sources Arabica beans grown at 1,500 meters in Oaxaca with a washed process, which typically results in a more complex and cleaner profile than the natural or sun-dried process.
